No. Washington is a direct-access state, therefore, you do not need a referral to receive treatment from a physical therapist. However, If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, we encourage you to contact your insurance company prior to your first visit to determine if a referral or pre-approval is required.

I choose to be an out of network provider, so that we, as a therapist client team, have the flexibility and autonomy to decide the type, duration and frequency of your sessions, as well as how long to continue therapy. I get to spend time doing what I love, treating patients as well as attending courses for continued learning. Also, because Padden Creek Physio does not bill insurance, I am able to provide preventative, wellness and performance enhancing services as well as long term maintenance that is not ‘medically necessary’.

It depends on your specific policy and deductible.  The best way to tell for sure is to call your insurance company and ask if they reimburse for out of network providers. I am happy to provide a superbill that you submit to your insurance company, for reimbursement according to their policy.

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows for exposure of the area to be treated.
